During the week of 11-17 September, Rotary and Rotaract clubs worldwide are teaming up with their local Kiwanis, Lions, and Optimist clubs on service projects that address health and wellness, food insecurity and hunger, education and literacy, and the environment.

Rotary and Rotaract clubs across the globe are encouraged to partner with local Kiwanis, Lions, and Optimist clubs on a project that will have a long-term impact in their community. (Use the club finder tools to locate Kiwanis, Lions, and Optimist clubs near you.) To get started, work with local social service organizations or government officials to learn what your community needs and how you can plan the most effective project.

Some examples of how clubs across the globe have joined together and made a positive difference:

· In the United States, members of the Lions Club of Mana Loa Nimitz joined members of the Rotary Club of Pearlridge to clean and paint over graffiti on a pedestrian overpass near Aiea Elementary School in Oahu, Hawaii.

· In the Fatih district of Istanbul, Turkey, Sariyer Leo Club, and Sariyer Rotaract Club cooked meals with the Sokak Lambası Mutual Aid and Solidarity Association, distributing meals to 250 unhoused individuals, neighborhood shopkeepers, and orphans.

· In Cameroon, Lions Club International joined Rotary Club Douala Madiba in the fight against childhood cancer, donating books and play equipment to Bonassama Hospital and visiting sick children.

We invite you to read through posts from the 2022 Facebook event to see more examples of collaborative service projects from last year. Rotary Showcase is also a great tool to see what other clubs have done and be inspired for this year’s Celebrate Community Week.

Tell your neighbors — and us — about your 2023 joint service project by posting on social media with #CelebrateCommunity, marking yourself as ‘going’ to the 2023 Celebrate Community Facebook event, and adding the project to Rotary Showcase with the tag “CelebrateCommunity.” We have also created additional resources to help you spread awareness and create excitement for Celebrate Community 2023:

We can serve our communities better and demonstrate the value of service organizations when we work together. Let’s harness the collective power of our four organizations’ 3.4 million members and Celebrate Community!
